TCU: Ahead of the Curve

T

CU stays ahead of the curve by delivering a world-class, values-centered university experience.

Eight new living/learning facilities

Step from your residence hall onto an expansive green. Follow a covered walk to the Union to grab a meal, get your mail, meet with a study group or just hang out with friends. Head to class, less than five minutes away, or to our award-winning recreation center.

Welcome to our Campus Commons, the heart of education at TCU in the 21st century. This year and next, TCU will open eight top-of-the-line facilities — these in addition to a $300 million investment in the campus in recent years. With a 13:1 student/faculty ratio and a teacher-scholar model that results in close, mentoring relationships, the TCU experience is designed to help you develop your creative potential. As a Horned Frog, you’ll have innumerable opportunities to engage in discovery and creative activities — in fact to embark on a personal search for meaning.

2000 in leadership classes

Scores of leadership opportunities.  A friendly, inclusive campus.  You can choose from more than 200 student organizations and have the opportunity to continue current interests or try something completely different. There are also leadership minors and programs in Mexico and Italy. These are some of the ways you can discover and map your to future success as a leader.

You can also be one of 2,000 TCU students involved in award-winning leadership programs and classes — many student-run. You’ll be putting your newfound skills to work on campus, in the Fort Worth community and abroad.  Because at TCU, we’re not just teaching students how to lead — we’re educating ethical leaders.

First all-Steinway school in Texas

Thanks to a strong concentration on creativity, well-known faculty and facilities featuring state-of-the art musical instruments, TCU’s School of Music can help you prepare for your future roles. And since TCU was designated as the first all-Steinway school in Texas, you can hone your music skills on pianos that are preferred by performers from all over the world.

The Fine Arts Gala at Fort Worth’s legendary Bass Performance Hall is quite a spectacle. Backed by none other than the Fort Worth Symphony, the TCU orchestra along with the marching band and choir are joined by students from the theatre and dance programs to perform an original piece for a city-wide audience.

Opportunities like this allow you to mature your individual talents and to collaborate with others to dazzle the world.

One in three study abroad

At TCU, you can be one of many students who earning a degree include learning outside of campus – frequently in another country. Our study abroad programs support and enhance the global perspective that you can get on campus, plus it allows you to increase your understanding of other cultures, and languages, enhance career opportunities, and make friends around the world.

You can go for a summer experience, a whole semester, or occasionally, an entire year. A variety of courses are offered in several countries and financial aid is available.  A global perspective permeates TCU, and you will have numerous opportunities to study abroad.

It’s what horned frogs do

You can enjoy many of the benefits found at large universities. You can choose from 100 undergraduate majors, participate in innovative programs such as entrepreneurship and nurse anesthesia, and take part in service learning. Your professors are leaders in their fields, and academics are rigorous.

At TCU, you’ll be able to enjoy state-of-the-art sports and recreation facilities and NCAA Division I competition, right on campus. The campus encompasses 269 acres in a residential neighborhood five miles from the heart of downtown Fort Worth, a welcoming city with a vibrant mix of commerce, culture and entertainment.

Consequently, a TCU education is more than the sum of semester hours — it’s an exciting living and learning experience that grows from the mission: “to educate individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community.”
