Due to the current worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, the board of directors of College Outreach USA (COUSA)have temporarily put our website and programs on hiatus. At this time, we do not feel it is prudent to put our under-served student community or the staff who work with them in harm’s way.
In the meantime, you can still access serval useful articles through the website. Please click on the underlined tabs and subdirectories on the top of the home page to see what is still viewable.
We thank you for your understanding and support through these difficult and disturbing times. Feel free to contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be happy to answer any questions and help as best we can.
As Robert Frost said, "The best way out is always through." In addition we believe, "That the only way through is by working together." We will continue to update this statement as thing change, so please continue to check often.
Please stay safe, practice social distancing and ABOVE ALL wear a facial mask when out in public.
COUSA is dedicated to identifying under-served students from any of these groups: minority; inner city; low to middle income families; international students from any income level; students whose parent(s) are/were employed as first responders ***.
Sir Francis Bacon said, "Knowledge is power." The colleges want to put the knowledge of college admissions and financial aid back in the hands of the students where its power can do the best. Therefore, we reach out to students during their middle and high school years so they have the information early enough to be able to plan and apply to college.
"The early bird catches the worm." To add some clarity to this segment of COUSA, we are going to call the generic information received by the seventh and eighth grade students, college guidance. Starting in ninth grade we begin the college placement process as we disseminate specific college information so that by the time each student reaches eleventh grade they will have been guided to the proper academic level of college they should attend. Meanwhile the student information we receive is noted by each college and an early file is started about the student at every academic level. We would not encourage a student without advanced level courses to apply to a top tier college, unless his/her college guidance counselor feels differently.
*** Each group mentioned above will have the ability to identify themselves on the student sign up form.
